Belterra Golf Resort
Grade: Eagle

Immaculate! The Belterra golf course was very nice! I played the course in mid-July and the course was still in great shape besides the dry weather we've had. The greens and fairways were all plush and I cannot think of one bad thing to say about the course!

I was at Belterra for the beginning of my yearly golf trip as this year we decided to play here instead of Perry Park before heading down to Pine Valley Golf Resort in Elizabethtown, KY. Belterra has a golf package that included golf, one night stay and breakfast buffet for $125 per person. And it was well worth it!! The breakfast buffet was just as good as the golf course too! A definite value!

Some of the golfers in our group didn't stay at the hotel so they had to pay $76 for the greens fees. Seems a little steep but the course is stellar and well worth the price if you have not played it yet.
More recruiting news, less access

The college recruiting process -- and the way we cover it -- has changed. Now there are Web sites that cover college visits of 17-year-olds like papal visits. Reporters mill around summer AAU basketball tournaments like they do the Final Four.  More . . .

NKY Golf Review - Hickory Sticks 2008

Hickory Sticks Golf Course
Grade: Par

I played in an outing at Hickory Sticks this summer and the course has not changed one bit from last year. It's still in pretty good shape and well kept. We always come back to Hickory Sticks because it has some challenging holes and is economical on the wallet.

NKY Golf Course Review - Perry Park

Perry Park Golf Resort
Grade: Par

Perry Park has now added a new nine holes to their golf course and named them Antlers, Whitetail, and Buckskin. I played Antlers and Whitetail, which only has two of the new wholes on Whitetail. All of Antlers' holes are from the original 18.

The course itself is in pretty good shape, especially the greens, but the fairways had a few rough spots. One of the things I don't like is if you start on Antlers, you have to play one of the more difficult par 5's first. This hole is narrow, goes up hill and is windy. Not a good hole to start on for most average golfers.

I did like the two new holes I played on Whitetail. The holes were not very long but had more sandtraps and more mounds along the fairways. I am looking forward to playing the other new holes soon.

Thank goodness we got an early tee time this day because there seemed to be many "less than average" hackers out there behind us. We also found many divot marks on the greens not fixed. So, our group tried to help out and fix as most we could.

Overall, Perry Park is a pretty open course with some good scenic views, especially when the deer come out, and there are A LOT of deer. It's a simple course but does offer a challenge if you play from the back tees.
Lindale Golf Club - GREAT Value for a nice course!
11/5/2007 - by Rex
Lindale Golf Club off US-52 in Ohio is a fantastic course for much less than what most courses around the Greater Cincinnati area cost. Normal summer rates are only $29.50 for weekends, which includes green fees & cart! The course is currently in great shape, VERY green! with some dry spots here & there in the fairways. The greens are a bit hard, but what can you expect from the huge drought we had over the summer? The course is fairly flat with pretty much wide open fairways. It does have a few dog-leg holes & a few with water that comes into play. On course toughness on a scale of 1-10, I'd give it a 7. Keep it in the fairway & expect a great round!
