Bishop Brossart Freshman Soccer Player Going to Italy
3/25/2009 - by Richard Frommeyer
Jordan Frommeyer was selected by the United States Olympic Development Program (ODP) Region II Team to play soccer in Italy April 4-14, 2009. He was one of 18 players selected to play for the United States in this prestigious event.

Jordan will travel to Perdenone, Italy to train and play against some of the best players and teams from around the world. Half of the teams are foreign teams such as national teams from Russia, Romania, Hungary and Iran and big-name European clubs such as Dinamo Azgreb (Crotia), Den Haag (Netherlands), Partizan Belgrade (Serbia), and KJK Helsinki (Finland).

Jordan is an 8th grader at St. Mary’s of the Assumption in Alexandria, KY and plays soccer for Bishop Brossart High School Freshman team.

Last year at 13 years old, Jordan first made the Kentucky Olympic Development Team, which he was one of 22 players chosen from across the state of Kentucky. Jordan then was invited to Illinois by USA Region II Soccer in July of 2008 for training and to win a spot for the U.S. Region II team. There he competed against 400 of the best players from 14 state soccer associations such as IL, MO, WI, IL, KY, ND, SD, MN, KS, MI, IA, IN, Ohio North, and Ohio South (Ohio has two teams). There are 4 regions in the country. Each region picks 36 players to make the pool team. Jordan made this pool team.

Jordan was then selected for the 18 player roster that will represent the United States in Italy.

Team Roster

The Olympic Development Program (ODP) is a national program to identify and develop youth players to represent their State, Region, and Country in soccer competitions. ODP teams are formed with each of the 55 US Youth Soccer State Associations and four regions, made up of the best players in the various age groups. At the state association level, pools of players are identified in each eligible age group, brought together as a team to develop their skill through training and competition. From the state pools and subsequent teams, players are identified for regional and national pools and teams.
