Scott Wins 10th Region on Last Second Shot
3/8/2017 - by NKS Editor
What a great 10th Region Championship game! They don't get any better than this! Scott defeats Campbell County 78-77 on a last second 3-pt shot by Jake Ohmer.

Campbell County had beaten Scott earlier this season 2x on last second shots. Now this time Scott returns with their own heroics.

Earlier in the game it looked like Scott was going to blow out the Camels jumping out to a 24-8 lead. But Campbell County slowly clawed back and the halftime score was 43-31 Scott.

Scott took a 58-51 lead into Q4 but then the Camels started to heat up and eventually took a 72-67 lead with about 2 minutes left in the game (17-5 run). But with 14 seconds left, Scott down 75-77, they had one last chance. Jake Ohmer runs down a missed Pouncy 3-pointer and hits his own 3 from the corner at the buzzer.

This was the first 10th Region Title for Scott coached by first year head coach Steve Fromeyer - they will head to Rupp Arena next Wednesday to play Harlan County. What a job Fromeyer has done getting this team headed to State his first season.

Jake Ohmer finished the game with 30 points. Per Evan Dennison, Ohmer scored 104 points the Regional tournament (2nd most ever). His tournament stats were 104 pts, 35/56 FG, 6/15 3PT, 28/32 FT, 25 reb, 5 stls, 6 asts, and only 4 turnovers.

Campbell County finished the season with a 30-5 record.
