10th Region Rankings 2/1
2/1/2016 - by Bluegrass Preps
A week of good weather allowed for a full slate of games last week, and there were several closely contested battles. These rankings have not significantly changed, but there has been a bit of movement.

#1 - Montgomery County (15-8)
The Indians started last week with a 62-60 buzzer-beating loss at Scott on Tuesday night. Playing without leading scorer and rebounder Jerryd Jones, Montgomery stayed with the host Eagles the entire way, but could not escape with a victory. Caswell Fuller scored 17 points and Cody Parsley had 15 in the loss. Matt Daniel's team regrouped to get a pair of weekend wins, beginning with a 63-48 road win at George Rogers Clark on Friday. Fuller again paced Jones-less MoCo with 23 points, while Shelby Combs finished with 11 and Art Walker 10. On Saturday the Indians played their first home game in two weeks, outlasting Madison Southern 69-62. Combs was the high man with 23 points. Fuller had 13, Parsley 12, and freshman Brennan Canada netted 11 points. As for Jones, the dynamic junior is dealing with some health issues and we wish him a full and speedy recovery.

#2 - Bishop Brossart (16-4)
Just two games for the Mustangs last week. Prior to their Class "A" State Tournament game, the Stangs easily handled Calvary Christian on the road Tuesday night 62-20. Ten Brossart players scored, led by Jacob Zai's 19 points. In Thursday's Class "A" State Tournament game, Mike Code's bunch struggled from the floor with 33% field goal shooting in a 37-33 loss to eventual runner-up Murray. Zai was the only Mustang in double figures with 10 points.

#3 - Campbell County (11-11)
Three home wins last week improved the defending champs' record to .500 at 11-11. On Tuesday night the Camels upended Clark Montessori OH 76-60, powered by Matt Wilson's 29 points and 14 rebounds. Trent McGovney added 17 and Cole Hegyi 11 for the victors. Thursday night saw the Camels outscore Augusta 50-34 in the 2nd half to win 87-67. Wilson again led the way with 27 points and 11 rebounds, with Hegyi contributing 17 points. McGovney, Tanner Clos, and Garren Bertsch each helped out with 13 points for the Camels, who shot 62.3% from the floor. On Saturday at Campbell County Middle School, Aric Russell's club outlasted Scott 60-48 in a game with 37th District seeding implications. Wilson again loomed large, scoring 22 points and grabbing 15 boards--both game highs. Bertsch and Hegyi added 11 and 10 points, respectively.
